You are not your writing. Sometimes you look at your writing and it makes you feel bad because it is not what you think it should be. But, your writing is not you. Don’t feel bad about it. Don’t stress. Don’t worry. Don’t be negative. You will improve your writing because you know you can get it out of your mind and onto paper. When it leaves your mind to live on paper it is not you. Then you can shape it. It will take work to make it better. Thinking, editing, finding different words, arranging the words in a different order, sharing it with other readers, and a million other things, are all ways that you can improve your writing. But, there are those moments when we think our writing has something to do with us, perhaps our strengths or our weaknesses, and we might struggle. But, our writing does not have anything to do with us because when it outside us it becomes something else we can actually see and shape. This thought might give you some freedom from yourself. Get it out of your mind and start working on it.
